Both CCcam and IPTV let you watch thousands of TV channels — but they use completely different technology and hardware. Understanding the difference will help you choose the right solution for your home setup.
How CCcam Works
CCcam is a satellite card sharing protocol. It works by:
- Receiving the encrypted satellite signal via a dish and satellite receiver
- Decrypting the signal using a Control Word received from a CCcam server
- Displaying the channel locally — the video signal travels via satellite, not internet
CCcam requires a satellite dish, LNB, and an Enigma2 receiver. The internet connection is only used to receive the decryption key — it uses almost no bandwidth.
How IPTV Works
IPTV is internet-based streaming. It works by:
- Sending the full video stream over the internet to your device
- Playing it using an IPTV player app (TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, etc.)
- Works on any device — Smart TV, phone, tablet, Fire Stick, PC
IPTV requires no satellite dish. A broadband internet connection of at least 25 Mbps is recommended for HD/4K streams.
Quality Comparison
- CCcam — original satellite quality, uncompressed. Sky Sport in 8K via satellite looks better than any streaming service. No buffering from internet congestion.
- IPTV — quality depends on server and internet speed. Most providers offer HD and 4K, but quality can drop during peak hours.
Equipment Required
- CCcam — satellite dish, LNB, coax cable, Enigma2 receiver (Dreambox, VU+, Zgemma). Initial cost: €150–400. No monthly internet bandwidth cost.
- IPTV — any smart device: Fire Stick (€35), Android TV box (€40–80), Smart TV built-in app. No dish needed.
Channel Coverage
- CCcam — best for European satellite packages: Sky DE/UK/IT, Canal+ Poland, HD+, Polsat, beIN. Extremely stable for live sports.
- IPTV — broader coverage: 50,000+ channels including USA, Middle East, African and Asian channels. Also includes VOD, catch-up TV.
Internet Dependency
- CCcam — minimal internet use (just the Control Word, a few KB/s). Works even on slow connections. If internet drops, the satellite signal continues for ~10 seconds until the next CW expires.
- IPTV — fully dependent on internet. Any congestion = buffering. Requires stable 25+ Mbps for 4K.
Price
- CCcam — from €14 for 3 months at CCcam Power. No additional hardware cost if you already have a satellite dish.
- IPTV — from €20 for 3 months at CCcam Power. Works on existing Smart TVs and Fire Sticks.
Which Should You Choose?
- ✅ Choose CCcam if: you already have a satellite dish, you want the best possible sports quality (Sky, Canal+), you want minimal internet dependency
- ✅ Choose IPTV if: you don't have a dish, you want to watch on phone/tablet/Smart TV, you want VOD and catch-up, you want more channel variety
- ✅ Choose both if: you want maximum coverage — CCcam for satellite sports quality, IPTV for global channels and VOD
💡 Good news: CCcam Power offers both — CCcam Server plans for satellite users and GOLD/DIAMOND IPTV plans for streaming users. You can order both from one provider.
