Freezing is the #1 complaint from CCcam users. A brief stutter every few seconds destroys the viewing experience — especially during live sports. Here's exactly why it happens and how our Anti-Freeze V6.95 technology eliminates it completely.
Why Does CCcam Freeze?
Encrypted satellite channels use a system called Conditional Access System (CAS). Every 10 seconds, the broadcaster changes the decryption key — called the Control Word (CW). Your receiver needs the new CW before the old one expires.
Freezing happens when:
- The server is slow delivering the new CW
- Network latency between you and the server is too high
- The server is overloaded with too many simultaneous users
- The smartcard is slow to process the decryption request
- There's packet loss on the internet connection
Even 200–300ms of extra delay can cause a visible freeze of 1–3 seconds on screen.
How Anti-Freeze Technology Works
The solution is pre-caching — preparing the next CW before it's needed. Anti-Freeze works in several layers:
Layer 1 — Control Word Pre-caching
Our server requests the next CW from the smartcard 3–5 seconds before it's needed. When your receiver asks for it, the CW is already ready in memory — delivery takes under 5ms instead of 80–150ms.
Layer 2 — Multiple Card Sources
We run multiple smartcards for each channel group. If one card is busy processing another request, the system instantly switches to an idle card. Your receiver never waits for a busy card.
Layer 3 — Redundant Server Nodes
Our infrastructure uses multiple server nodes in Germany and the Netherlands. If one node experiences high load, connections are automatically routed to the fastest available node.
Layer 4 — Intelligent CW Caching (V6.95)
V6.95 adds a machine-learning layer that predicts channel-switching patterns. When a receiver is switching channels, the server pre-loads CWs for channels that are statistically likely to be selected next. This eliminates the brief freeze that used to occur when zapping between channels.
Anti-Freeze Versions
- V1–V3 (2010–2015) — basic CW caching, reduced freeze frequency
- V4 (2016–2018) — multi-card switching added
- V5 (2019–2021) — redundant node routing
- V6.x (2022–present) — predictive caching, sub-50ms CW delivery
- V6.95 (2025) — our current version — channel-switch prediction, guaranteed <80ms delivery
Results: Before and After Anti-Freeze
- Without anti-freeze: 3–8 second freeze every CW cycle (every 10s during heavy load)
- With V6.95: Zero visible freezes under normal conditions, max 1s freeze only during extreme server maintenance
- CW delivery latency: Reduced from 80–200ms average to under 25ms average
Why 4 C Lines Helps Anti-Freeze
Our CCcam Pack includes 4 VIP C Lines per subscription. Running all 4 on one receiver adds another layer of anti-freeze protection:
- Receiver tries all 4 C lines in parallel and uses the fastest response
- If one connection drops, 3 others are immediately available
- Each C line connects to a different server path — 4× redundancy
💡 Best configuration: Use all 4 C lines in your CCcam.cfg and set KEEPCONNECTED = 1. This keeps all 4 connections active simultaneously and gives you the absolute best anti-freeze performance.
